Job Vacancy – Shift Engineer (Fixed Term)
Whakatane Mill Limited continues as one of the Whakatane District’s largest employers and is stronger and prouder than ever with an exciting future ahead. Located in the ultimate outdoor destination, with ocean, lakes, rivers, bush and the related activities all within a stone’s throw, what better place to gain some work-life balance?
We are seeking an experienced Shift Engineer to join the Powerhouse team for a six month fixed term at our coated carton board mill in the Bay of Plenty. The purpose of this role is to ensure the continuous supply of steam, water, compressed air, gas and electricity to the mill and mill environmental and effluent control systems within our consent limits. The Shift Engineer will also have the following responsibilities:
- Key member of the Incident Response Team
- After hours assistance for permits and site security
- Coordination with external energy utilities for fuel supplies and electricity usage
- Monitor and respond to an Unattended gas fired boiler
To be successful in this role, you will need to be knowledgeable and experienced in:
- Industrial steam systems and plant services within a 24/7 operation
- At least 10 years of engineering experience in a major process industry or heavy engineering (eg. Pulp & Paper, Petrochemical, Mining or Metals) is desirable
- Competent and experienced Unattended Boiler operator
- General understanding of Resource Management Act and it’s regulations
- Pulp & Paper operations and processes (an advantage but not a requirement)
You will have a minimum of a Mechanical Engineering Trade (1st Class Engineer Drivers certificate or 3rd Marine or Level 4 – ENCHEM Certificate). If you’re a quality tradesperson who strives to achieve excellence in everything you do, we want to hear from you.
